I’ve been working on DNA for a while and like many others, I’m getting frustrated trying to find the connections to my family. Especially for the brickwalls that I’m trying to break down in the Beaton/Batten Mystery and the search for Godfrey Martel. Then I realized that the problem might be that I just haven’t gotten the right cousins. So I’ve decided that I need to campaign for more cousins. So spread the word that I’m looking for cousins and this means you!!!
What do you have to do? Well, all you need to do is test at Family Tree DNA, 23andMe or Ancestry. Depending on where you live will decide where you get your test kit from for Ancestry; so if you live in Canada you need to test at Ancestry.ca and if you live in the U.S. then Ancestry.com . Where you get your ancestry kit from doesn’t change who you match, as they are all put in the same pool, it’s all about where the kits ship from and what currency they charge you.
Once you have your kit all you have to is spit or swab and send it back. It’s that easy. So I encourage you to test, but don’t stop there. You need to share this with everyone you can so that I can break down my brickwalls. Who knows we just might be cousins.
