If you’ve been following along you know that I have more than just a passing interest in DNA for genealogy. So when I heard that Heritage Books was going to have a DNA Cruise I was more than interested. At that time the dates weren’t going to work for my husband so I wasn’t going to go. But then because I wasn’t sure if I’d get to have this opportunity again I decided to take the trip on my own. Sort of a 60th birthday gift to me. As it’s turned out now a friend of mine always wanted to go on a Panama trip and so she and I are going together. Yes we are going to Panama… but as I’ve told many people; for me where we are going isn’t as important as the people who will be on the DNA Cruise with.
Ce Ce Moore, Blaine Bettinger and Angie Bush all Genetic Genealogists and they all are going to present on the DNA cruise. To say I’m excited is so understated. I’m telling everyone that I’m going; all my friends, all my family and even the lady at the bank today. I got my schedule the other day and there are events planned every day. Sailing days are filled with sessions and days that we are in port there are evening discussions.
A private Facebook page for the participants has been created and it would appear that many consider themselves at an intermediate level. I believe there are close to 50 participants so it will be exciting to meet so many people who have such a keen interest in DNA. Another thing that’s exciting is that I have a one-on-one session with Ce Ce Moore on the first full day on the cruise.
I won’t be blogging when I’m on the cruise but I’m sure I’ll have lots to tell you about when I return. Let the count down begin.. Today the Cruise ship website said we only have 25 days to go.
