Black Friday And The World Goes A Bit Crazy

If you look up Black Friday on Wikipedia you’ll see that it says that the earliest known use of “Black Friday” to refer to the day after Thanksgiving occurred in the journal, Factory Management, and Maintenance, for November 1951, and again in 1952.  In this case, it referred to the practice of workers calling in sick on the day after Thanksgiving, in order to have a four-day weekend. In the 80’s merchants objecting to the use of a derisive term to refer to one of the most important shopping days of the year but now they seemed to have embraced it.  But no matter what, many of us watch and wait to see if the things we want are going on sale as the shopping season is kicked off in the U.S.  Even though I live in Canada we have our version of Black Friday and with online shopping we Canadian’s are able to take advantage of some of the same deals as our friends in the U.S.
