Uploading Your DNA to MyHeritage

The Upload

Welcome. You’re here because you’ve read my post; Transferring Your DNA – Let’s Find More Cousins and you wanted to learn how you can upload a raw data file to MyHeritage.

Using the link above you’ll be taken to this page.

MyHeritage Upload

The next step is to fill out the form as to whether this is your own kit or you’re uploading for someone else and that you’ve read the Terms of Service, that your kit isn’t involved in a law enforcement case, that you have the permission of the DNA provider to manage their kit and that you’ve read the informed consent information.

Once you’ve done that and clicked upload a new window opens and you can attach the DNA raw data file. Once attached the file starts to process. I love the graphic they have of a double helix spinning.

The process is very quick and soon I got a message telling me the kit was successfully uploaded. Note that because I had the person in the tree that I have on MyHeritage I was able to attach their DNA to their name on the tree all at the same time.

Now I just have to wait for the file to be processed which takes 5-7 days. That’s always the hardest part.
