Organizing the Past: A New Year’s Genealogy Resolution

In the past, I’d decided that making New Year’s resolutions was setting yourself up for failure. Well, at least that was the case with dieting. But genealogy is another matter. The reason is that I enjoy genealogy, and I can’t say the same about dieting.

Here are my three main genealogy resolutions.

  • Confirm with DNA my great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents. I’ve loosely done this, but I want to do it in a more structured way and also identify it on my tree so that others can see it. Watch for future posts.
  • Continue to organize my photos and genealogy at FOREVER. Over the past few weekends, I’ve made significant progress using the new facial recognition feature that FOREVER has. This new tool is even helping me figure out who some of the mystery people are. You can learn more about how I’m organizing the two programs, The Big Rock Plan (downloadable checklist) and Saving My Genealogy FOREVER HERE.
  • I’d like to write a bio for my grandparents and great-grandparents. I will be using the artificial intelligence tools available to me for this, which will get me one step closer to creating a book for my family. I’ve previously written about some of these tools; you can read them HERE. The book I’d like to write will be part genealogy facts and part genealogy stories … what can I say? I’m all about the stories.

I’m going to put these in my calendar for a future blog. It’s my way of making you my accountability partner.

Are you making genealogy resolutions? If so, what are they?

If you’re not already a member, I’d love it if you’d join me.
