Hidden Gem on FamilySearch – Genealogies at FamilySearch

This image was created using DALL-E and then used in Canva. You can watch the YouTube video on this subject HERE.

In a recent episode of Mondays with Myrt, I learned something about FamilySearch I’d not known about. I mean, I know that FamilySearch has a tree but this is different.

I created a YouTube video about this, and you can watch it HERE, but basically, if you log in to FamilySearch just below Family Tree in the Search, you’ll see “Genealogies.” Here, FamilySearch has compiled trees from

  • Community Trees
  • Oral Genealogies
  • Computer-Generated Trees
  • Guild of One-Name Studies
  • MyTree.com
  • RootsFinder
  • American Ancestors
  • Pedigree Resource Files
  • Ancestral Files
  • International Genealogical Index (IGI)
  • Lineages of the Middle East and Islamic World
  • Storied.com

In the search field, enter the name, place, and date information, and then see if you find a tree that someone or some organization has submitted.

Of course, as I mentioned in the video, this isn’t to be taken as accurate information, but you might find something you never knew about before, and it could be a “hint” to explore and perhaps further your research.

I’ve just started searching for various members of my tree. What will you find? Let me know if you find something for your family, and leave it in the comments below.
