I’m continuing to tidy up my stuff from my parents, including my mom’s recipe collection. Once or twice a week, I cook one of my mom’s recipes, and then I can take photos and add them to my FOREVER recipe book. It’s a template that I can add to, and it’s stored in my projects.
Here are some of my new recipes.
Pineapple Delight
Cape Ann Casserole
I like the layout because you can add more information about the recipe and family history, and there is also a notes field.
One thing I have noticed besides the fact that my mom loved dessert recipes is that the cooking is different. She would use whipping cream, whereas I might use Cool Whip or Dream Whip. Or that a recipe might call for icing sugar rather than just sugar. You can just tell they weren’t counting calories, not how I try to watch my diet now.
This week’s recipe is one of my own old recipes. It’s called Impossible Pie. It’s from the 1980s, where you put all the ingredients into the blender and then pour it into a pie plate. Sounds like my kind of cooking. Good but easy.
I might also try Green Tomato Pickles if I have enough green tomatoes.
What are you cooking from your family’s recipes?
