Week Two: Declutter & Digitize – Preserve Before the Holidays

November is Family History Month, so it’s the perfect time to get family stories, photos, and memories ready for the holidays — when families gather and stories are shared.

Last week, we celebrated rediscovering our roots — finding that one special photo or story that connects generations. (Here’s a link to last week.)

This week, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and make sure those memories are safe and easy to share.

Think of it as holiday prep for your photo collection. Before the baking begins and the decorations go up, take a little time to:

  • 📸 Gather the photos that are scattered in boxes, drawers, or on multiple devices.
  • 💾 Back up your images to an online service. Of course, my suggestion is a FOREVER Account (or your preferred long-term solution).
  • 🧹 Delete duplicates or blurry shots — they take up more space than you realize.
  • 🏷️ Create albums or tags that make it easy to find favorites later (like “Christmas 1985” or “Grandma’s Recipes”).

Your future self — and your family — will thank you when it’s time to share those memories around the table.

💬 This Week’s Question

🎁 What’s the one photo or memory you’d hate to lose — and how are you making sure it’s preserved for the next generation?

💡 Optional Engagement Challenge

🏆 Mini Challenge: Declutter 100 photos this week — or organize one folder or album.
