Read to the end because I’ve give you a link 30 writing prompt to help you reflect on this past year.
As the year winds down, I find myself doing something I encourage others to do often: pausing long enough to notice what actually worked.
This year, one of the most meaningful shifts for me was committing to a daily Miracle Morning routine. Not a rigid one, and not always a complete one—but a consistent practice of starting my day with intention. As of today, I’ve completed 197 days in a row. Even on mornings when I don’t get through every SAVERS step, that quiet space has helped me think more clearly, plan more realistically, and reconnect with why I care so deeply about preserving family stories, photos, and history. That daily rhythm made it easier to finally sit down with photo projects I’d been postponing and approach them with far less overwhelm.
A gentler pace moving forward
As I look ahead, I’m feeling drawn to a slower, more intentional pace—one that values steady progress over urgency or perfection. I’ve been thinking a lot about how often people delay organizing photos or family history because they believe they need a large block of time or a burst of motivation. In reality, meaningful progress usually comes from showing up in small, repeatable ways.
That thinking is what shaped the 2026 photo organizing hero challenge. It’s designed to help people work through their collection of pictures and other material in manageable pieces, without pressure to “catch up” or do it all at once. The focus is on building a rhythm that fits real life—one that allows momentum to grow naturally over time.
If you’re curious, I’ve shared more details about the challenge below. It’s there as an option, not an obligation.
A quiet invitation
As we head into a new year, I’d love to know—what helped you most this past year? Or what are you hoping feels a little easier going forward?
If you feel like sharing, leave a comment or reach out. I always enjoy hearing what others are noticing at this point in the year.

Thanks so much for offering us this opportunity to reflect – something that I believe in very strongly. You can find my thoughts here on my blog.https://familytreefrog.blogspot.com/2025/12/reflection.html
Alex, I really like your blog and all the things you have been able to accomplish this year. Sometimes having a deadline can be tough but we all need those from time to time to keep our bottom in the chair and get things done. Looking forward to 2026.
