Road Trip
It’s June already and time to hit the road to Ontario for the Ontario Genealogical Society’s Conference in Ottawa. Shop the Hound has been attending OGS for the past couple of years and we always have a great time meeting other genealogists.
Of course, we are taking all our inventory so that means we have to drive. 6,918 km round-trip with a few detours to see family on the way there and back. This will be our first trip with Cali, so there will be lots of breaks to stop for drinking, eating and stretching everyone’s legs and paws.
If you live in or near Ottawa then you will want to check the conference out. The line-up of topics and speakers is impressive. There are speakers coming from across Canada, the U.S. and even from the UK.
Of course, I think you should check out the Marketplace, but I might be biased. But honestly the cross-section of vendors is quite impressive and there are also booths for the branches of the Ontario Society. Be sure to drop by the Shop the Hound booth and say hi to us.
We leave on Saturday, so follow along as we travel across Canada. I will do my best to keep up with Twitter (look for #HoundontheHunt and #MsCali #OGSConf2017) and on our Facebook page; Shop The Hound. I hope to see you in Ottawa.
Have a great trip – drive safely – and above all else – plan for multiple delays due to heavy traffic, construction and accidents – I know we live in Kingston on the 401 corridor and between Brighton and Cornwall it is becoming insane! Many people now take the slower country roads, and you will find great villages and much history. 🙂
I love Kingston. Spent a month their researching my ancestors. Need to do that again soon. We ride a Harley so we love the backroads when we can ride them.
