I’ve decided it’s time to take a good hard look at my genealogy. I know there are people out there that have been doing genealogy for years, and although I started when I was 17 years old, I didn’t get focused until about 20 years ago.
So I’ve decided that now is an excellent time to have a closer look at my research and see if I have old info never captured, research that could be better organized, citations that could be better written …. you get the idea.
I’m not starting over; I’m just going to see if I can take some of the skills I’ve learned over the years and implement it into some of the genealogy that I did in the beginning. I know I could do it better.
Over the years, I’ve purchased books and webinars, and these are going to be some of the tools I’ll be using.
The books that I’m going to be using are Genealogy Standards (Second Edition), Evidence Explained written by Elizabeth Shown Mills and Mastering Genealogical Proof by Thomas W. Jones. There may be more added later, but that’s where I’m starting.
I’m going to be also using some of the webinars that I’ve purchased over the years that I have access to as well as watching some of the great webinars that can be found on Legacy Family Tree Webinars, MyHeritage and don’t forget YouTube. Ancestry has some great webinars put on by Crista Cowan.
I’ll be posting my progress from time to time and also posting on my Facebook page, Getting My Poop In A Group (Genealogy & Photo Rewind). If you’d like to join the conversation, then join my FB page and “we can do this together. “
Note: that my FB is for genealogy and photo organizing, and this means that sometimes I post affiliate marketing items. You won’t pay anything more, but I get a small amount of money. I use some of this money to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society and to support The DNA Angel Project.
