Have You Transferred Your FTDNA Tree to MyHeritage?

The other day, I received an email from Family Tree DNA telling me that they would no longer support the tree they had on their site but that I could link my account to a tree at MyHeritage.

If you have your DNA at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA), I encourage you to move your tree to MyHeritage. If you have a tree at MyHeritage, you can link your FTDNA to that tree. Even if you don’t have an account at MyHeritage, you can set one up for free and then link your DNA. At MyHeritage, you can have a tree of 250 people before you’d be required to get a MyHeritage subscription. Or, if you choose, you can move the tree you have at FTDNA over to MyHeritage. There are plenty of options.

If you’d like to learn how to link your FTDNA results to a tree at MyHeritage, I’ve created a short YouTube video that walks you through the steps. It’s really not that hard. You can find that video HERE.

You don’t need to worry if you choose not to link your DNA to a MyHeritage tree (whether it’s a new tree or your old FTDNA tree). The tree will still be at Family Tree DNA, but it will be static (read-only), and you won’t be able to change it.

Don’t worry; your FTDNA will still be at FTDNA, and if you’ve tested or transferred your DNA to MyHeritage, that’s still the case. This is just about linking your tree; honestly, the tree I have at MyHeritage is much better than the tree I had at FTDNA.

Now, when someone who matches me on Family Tree DNA clicks on my tree icon, they are sent directly to the tree I have at MyHeritage.

This week, I’ll be linking all the DNA kits I’m responsible for at FTDNA to my tree MyHeritage, but you have until September 9th, 2024.

The above blog contains affiliate links, from which I receive a small sum for sharing those links. This in no way costs you more when you make a purchase. It’s just my way of getting support to maintain my blog.
